💖 Introduction: The Desire to Please the Lord

To live a life that pleases the Lord is not a one-time decision—it’s a daily choice. 💡 It comes from a deep desire to walk in His ways, obey His voice, and surrender every part of our life to His will.

📖 “So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him.” – 2 Corinthians 5:9
📖 “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4

🛐 When we please the Lord:

  • He draws us closer to Him 💫

  • He leads us into peace 🌿

  • He blesses our paths 🌟

  • He fights for us 🛡️

❤️ What Does the Lord Love?

If we want to please Him, we must know what He loves. God loves:

1. 💎 A Surrendered Life

📖 “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” – Romans 12:1
The Lord delights in a life that is completely given to Him—in spirit, soul, and body.

2. 🕊️ A Humble Heart

📖 “The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked to the ground.” – Psalm 147:6
God is pleased when we walk in humility and recognize our need for Him daily.

3. 🌿 A Righteous Path

📖 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” – Psalm 37:23
When we choose the right way, even our enemies are at peace with us (Proverbs 16:7).

❌ 5 Ways That Do Not Please the Lord

To walk wisely, we must also avoid the paths that displease the Lord.

🚫 1. The Way of Poetry (Pleasure-Seeking Life)

📖 “In the last days, people will be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.” – 2 Timothy 3:4

A life spent only in seeking pleasure without prayer or God’s Word leads to spiritual emptiness.
➡️ Replace entertainment with scripture and prayer.

🚫 2. The Way of Repeated Disobedience

📖 “They did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts.” – Jeremiah 7:24

Even when the Lord convicts us, if we continue sinning knowingly, we grieve His heart.
➡️ Choose repentance and turn back quickly.

🚫 3. The Free Way (Careless, Samson-like Living)

📖 “He did not know that the Lord had left him.” – Judges 16:20

Samson, blessed with strength, lost everything because of carelessness and compromise.
➡️ Power comes not from gifts, but obedience and devotion.

🚫 4. The Way of Broken Vows

📖 “When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it.” – Ecclesiastes 5:4

If you’ve committed something to the Lord, fulfill it with joy. Don’t take lightly what He takes seriously.

📖 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” – Proverbs 14:12

Self-will is the greatest enemy of spiritual growth.
➡️ Daily surrender your will and ask the Lord to lead your decisions.

🌈 How to Live a Life That Pleases the Lord

  1. 📖 Read and Obey His Word – not just hearers, but doers! (James 1:22)

  2. 🙏 Pray constantly – Talk to the Lord and listen for His voice. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

  3. 💒 Worship with your life – Let everything you do glorify Him. (Colossians 3:17)

  4. ✝️ Walk by faith, not sight – Trust in His promises. (Hebrews 11:6)

  5. 🧎‍♀️ Stay humble and teachable – God resists the proud. (James 4:6)

Ask yourself:

  • Am I living to please myself or to please the Lord?

  • Is my life a sacrifice of worship or just a routine?
