Christmas Message: The Inner Happiness

Isaiah 9:6 reminds us of the greatest gift we have received:
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Every birthday brings joy to families and friends, celebrated with grandeur and happiness. Yet, today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ—our Savior, who was born, lived, suffered, and died for us. This day is not just any birthday; it is a divine celebration of love and sacrifice.

This momentous event was prophesied 900 years before it happened, as recorded by Isaiah, and fulfilled in the Gospel of Matthew. Today, let us reflect on who this God is and the inner happiness He brings when born within our hearts.

1. Amazing God

Matthew 1:20
"But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.’"

The virgin birth of Jesus is a miracle unmatched in history, a testament to the amazing nature of God. If this God is born within you, He will perform wondrous deeds in your life. Nothing is impossible for Him. He will work miracles before your very eyes, proving His limitless power and love.

2. Counselor is the Lord

Matthew 2:12
"And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way."

God, as our Wonderful Counselor, warns us of dangers and guides us through life’s hardest times. Just as He led the wise men away from Herod’s schemes, He is ready to counsel and direct your steps. When Christ is born within you, He provides wisdom, guidance, and a steady hand to navigate life’s challenges.

3. Almighty God

Matthew 2:13
"Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, 'Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.’"

Though Herod was a king, Jesus is the King of Kings. God’s might was evident when He protected His Son against Herod’s decree.
Matthew 2:20: “Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the young child's life are dead.”

When Jesus is born within you, His almighty power ensures your victory, no matter the obstacles. His strength will triumph over every adversary and difficulty you face.

4. Eternal Father

Mark 9:17-23
This passage recounts a father pleading for his son’s deliverance from an evil spirit. Jesus’ response shows His deep compassion and authority over all things.
"You faithless people!" He said, calling them to trust in His power.

Our eternal Father’s love surpasses any earthly parent’s care. Psalm 103:13 confirms this:
"The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him."

If Christ is born within you, He becomes your eternal Father, tenderly caring for your every need and going to unimaginable lengths to fulfill His promises for you.

5. God of Peace

Matthew 2:22-23
"But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth."

Jesus is the Prince of Peace. When He resides in your heart, His peace flows into your life, calming storms and bringing serenity to every situation. His peace extends beyond you, transforming your surroundings and relationships.

Conclusion

This Christmas, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us invite Him to be born within us. When He dwells in our hearts, He brings with Him:

  • Amazement through His miraculous works.
  • Guidance as our Wonderful Counselor.
  • Strength as the Almighty God.
  • Love as our Eternal Father.
  • Peace as the Prince of Peace.

May this Christmas fill you with inner happiness, knowing that the Savior who was born 2000 years ago continues to live and transform lives today. Let us rejoice in His birth and share the joy, love, and peace He offers with those around us.
